With new skincare brands launching constantly to give us an overwhelming wealth of choice, it's easy to overlook the classics—but Olay has been a budget-friendly favorite for years. The brand built its reputation on crafting formulas full of dermatologist-recommended ingredients that don’t come with a luxury price tag. Its latest drop, the Super Cream with Sunscreen, includes SPF 30 as well as a host of vitamins and nourishing powerhouses, making for what the brand claims to be a true multitasker. Designed to hydrate, smooth, brighten, firm, and protect the skin, it’s meant to be a one-stop shop for your skincare routine, similarly to the brand's Super Serum. About My Skin: Mostly dry

My skin is dry for the most part, but I do have some occasional oiliness in my T-zone area that comes out most often during warmer weather. Due to having dry and sensitive skin, fragrance-free creams are my best friend, and I love those that focus on hydrating, smoothing, and brightening. Lately, I've been using the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream and Rhode Barrier Butter. My everyday routine consists of four products: cleanser, moisturizer, serum, and SPF. At night, I also apply eye cream.

How to Apply: Like any other moisturizer with SPF

Since this cream has SPF, you'll want to follow the same general directions as with any other sunscreen: Apply it liberally at least fifteen minutes before sun exposure. It's important to reapply SPF every two hours to stay protected, which you can do using more of the cream or with a lighter product like a spray sunscreen, depending on what works best with your routine.

For extra hydration, Olay recommends applying its Super Serum before the cream, as the hero ingredients are similar and can work well in tandem. I’ve tried that serum (which won a Byrdie Beauty Award back in 2023) as well, and I can confirm it boosts the moisturizing power.

The Results: Brighter, smoother skin

When I took the Olay Super Cream out of the box, I immediately thought it had a luxurious look and feel. The texture is rich and thick, but once applied on the skin, it feels light and creamy. It's easy to layer, plus it absorbs well—I didn't feel like I had to be cautious with how much I used. The more I applied, the more hydrated my skin felt. I will say that it doesn't provide the same level of hydration power as non-SPF creams I've tried, but it still gives my skin the moisture it craves.

From the moment I had applied the Super Cream, I could see the glow right away. After weeks of use, my skin looked brighter and felt more hydrated, smoother, and slightly firmer. The fact that it includes SPF is majorly helpful in simplifying your skincare routine, and it's easy to reapply without any pilling. Under makeup, it took a small learning curve: I had some dry patches on my cheek at first, but after applying two pumps of the Rhode Peptide Glazing Fluid, I achieved an even, hydrated complexion.

Overall, this cream made my morning routine so much easier. I no longer have to layer on serum, moisturizer, and SPF every day, as this product contains the best of all three in one.

The Olay Super Cream retails for about $35, which is on the higher end of drugstore beauty prices, but affordable in comparison to many prestige and luxury brands. From the start, the packaging shows its value: The jar is aesthetically pleasing, plus the formula's multiple benefits make it well worth the price. Its key ingredients include vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and vitamin E, which work together to protect, nourish, and smooth the skin. These ingredients are some of the most effective and versatile powerhouses in skincare, and not many products contain all four. The cream also has a citrus scent that doesn't linger or cause a reaction on my sensitive skin.

I tend to wear less makeup as the skin gets warmer, and I noticed my skin felt softer and looked more radiant after applying the Super Cream, which helped me feel more confident. I really appreciate that it doesn’t feel greasy and absorbs quickly without leaving the white cast that many other SPFs do. As someone with a busy routine, having a single product that combines hydration and SPF makes my mornings so much easier. There are plenty of creams at this price point, but the Olay Super Cream is a generous size and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. After weeks of use, I can confidently say Olay definitely has a winner on its hands.
